Knapp Medical Center has presented iconic event for 31 years; features over 11 continuing education credits; expert speakers; relaxing beach-side setting
South Padre Island, Texas – More than 11 continuing medical education credits for physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers will be available during a 31st Annual Rio Grande Valley Medical Education Conference & Exposition on Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 6700 Padre Blvd. on South Padre Island.
The popular conference — a fixture in the Rio Grande Valley medical community for 31 years — is designed for primary and specialty care physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants — while also welcoming registered nurses, pharmacists, physician residents, medical students, and other interested healthcare professionals.
The renowned conference will provide more than 11 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits — including an hour in medical ethics — for physicians and other healthcare professionals. There will also be continuing nursing education (CEU) credits for nurses.
“This is exciting news — the 31st annual Knapp Medical Center CME conference is back at South Padre Island!,” said Kathleen Avila, Regional Director for Business Development for Prime Healthcare hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley. “We invite physicians, mid-level providers, and nurses to join us for a knowledge-packed event and to earn their CMEs / CEUs — while also enjoying a beautiful weekend at the Island!”
“Knapp Medical Center invites you to attend the 31st Annual Rio Grande Valley Medical Education Conference & Exposition, a premier continuing education event dedicated to advancing clinical excellence and collaboration across South Texas,” added Sarah Cano, Business Development & Marketing Manager for Knapp Medical Center. “Join us on South Padre Island for two days of high-quality CME, engaging expert-led sessions, and meaningful networking in a setting that doesn’t feel like work.”
The program will feature two full days of education sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions aimed at enhancing patient care and professional growth.
Topics planned for the conference include the impact of AI on healthcare, new weight loss medications / obesity, peri-menopause and hormone replacement therapy, opioids, mental health / medications, palliative care, emerging treatments for sleep apnea, heart disease / peripheral vascular disease, diabetes management, oncology, value-based health care, HIPAA compliance, coding and documentation, and more.
Ms. Cano said sponsorship opportunities are available at the conference for businesses and organizations seeking “to engage with leading medical professionals from across the Rio Grande Valley.”
In addition, she said “early bird pricing” is now available for attendees who register by January 31. Discounted hotel room rates are also available. Ticket purchasing and hotel reservations can be made on the website at www.Knappmed.org/cme.
“Lock in discounted rates and reserve your spot as an attendee or sponsor before prices go up — at www.knappmed.org/cme,” Ms. Cano added.
