Residency Programs at Knapp Medical Center

Knapp Medical Center is proud to support the next generation of physicians through its Graduate Medical Education programs. Located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley, Knapp offers two ACGME-accredited residency programs — Family Medicine and Internal Medicine — providing residents with a rich clinical training environment rooted in community-centered care. Our programs combine hands-on experience with expert mentorship, preparing physicians to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to the diverse patient populations of South Texas and beyond.

Family Medicine Residency Program

Knapp Medical Center’s ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program offers comprehensive, community-centered training in a 227-bed acute care hospital in Weslaco, TX. This 3-year program provides 6 positions per postgraduate year, with a total complement of 18 residents, all trained by faculty dedicated to delivering high-quality care to the diverse communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Internal Medicine Residency Program

Knapp Medical Center’s ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program offers a rigorous, comprehensive 3-year training experience rooted in community-centered care. With 13 positions per postgraduate year and a total complement of 39 residents, the program is designed to equip physicians with the clinical expertise and compassion needed to serve the patients of South Texas and beyond.
