Also offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Weslaco

Weslaco – The Wound Center at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco cares for patients with wounds that are either not healing or healing slowly — – including those developed by patients with diabetes.

In some cases, treatment for non-healing wounds can help prevent patients from having their foot or toe amputated. Tragically, amputations can make the patient become unable to work or perform other functions at a relatively-young age. In many cases, this is caused by complications of diabetes, which is widespread in the Valley’s Hispanic population.

The Knapp Wound Center is a comprehensive outpatient center designed for the treatment of wounds and which also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The Knapp Wound Center provides a thorough diagnostic examination of the wound and the patient. A comprehensive and individual treatment plan is then developed and communicated to the referring physician.

Information concerning the patient’s progress is continuously submitted to the referring physician. The update includes photos of the wound with a progress report at regular intervals. The Knapp Wound Center can periodically evaluate and re-adjust treatment plans as necessary, in order to achieve positive outcomes for the patients.
