Volunteering at Knapp

Volunteers make a huge difference at Knapp Medical Center and are one of the hospital’s most valuable resources.  Volunteers’  kind smiles, helping hands and generous hearts are uplifting for patients, visitors and hospital staff.

At Knapp Medical Center, volunteers are regarded as important members of the healthcare team. Volunteers serve in various non-clinical hospital departments ranging from the front desk and gift shop to the cafeteria and the education, accounting, facilities and marketing departments.

Every effort is made to match the volunteer’s talents and interests with an available volunteer position. The most visible volunteer placements are at the front information desk and gift shop.

Typical duties of volunteers might include greeting visitors, stocking supplies, answering phones, copying, filing, or escorting visitors through the hospital.

How to Become a Volunteer

• The process of becoming a Knapp Medical Center volunteer begins with the completion of an application and background screening.
• Volunteers also receive a TB test (skin test), which will be performed at the Knapp Employee Health Department.
• The volunteer uniform includes a polo shirt, which can be purchased in the hospital gift shop for $20.
